During Paris' Games of the VIII Olympiad, volleyball was a demonstration sport, and finally became a part of the olympic programme at Tokyo's Games of the XVIII Olympiad forty years later. Thirty two years later than that beach volleyball was introduced as an olympic sport, which leaves one question : where is the beach in Milngavie?

Volleyball : A few years ago I went to Paris, and witnessed the Plage Paris, two miles of imported sand along the side of the Seine. A little further on I watched an international beach volleyball tournament under the Eiffel Tower. Edinburgh hosted a beach volleyball tournament recently too. I could finally make use of the large space infront of the Allander Sports Centre which had previously been rumoured to be turned into a skate park and a Disney cinema amongst various others, turning it into the Plage Milngavié.
