Fencing has been part of every olympic games since the Games of the I Olympiad. There are three different types of fencing at olympic level - foil (where only torso hits count), sabre (where anything above the waist counts) and épée (where everything counts).
Location - Dobbies
Fencing : Despite having had fencing lessons in the Allander Sports Centre (where my brother managed to cut my arm with his sword), I couldn't resist the calls of Dobbies. Fencing takes place on a piste which is 2 metres by 14 metres, so Dobbies would be able to accomodate that, and already rather expectantly have an area set aside for decking and fencing. What garden decking has to do with sword fighting is beyond me.
