After three years of using a Countdown Page-A-Day desk calendar I knew there were two problems with the daily conundrums - they felt 2 letters too long, and some of their answers weren't real words. And so Countdo was born. No more 9 letter conundrums and no more solutions meaning a South African orange or a 17th century washcloth. Everything would be 7/9ths the size of Countdown - a conundrum would be 7 letters long, a conundrum would be called a conundr, and dictionary corner would now be dictionary 70 degrees.
A conundr is a 7 letter anagram often arranged in the form of two condensed words. For example, the solution to MAXPEEL would be EXAMPLE, scoring 10 points. Another example, DOCONUT, was used for the Project 64 teaser page. Anyone who worked out the answer was COUNTDO gets 10 points. Countdo conundrs can be found on the right hand side of this page or directly from the Countdo twitter feed - @Countdo and Countdo hashtag - #countdoconundr |
